An impact model for your organisation

JMA can develop an impact measurement system for your organisation.

As part of the construction of the impact model for your organisation, we would work with your staff to help them to build the skills required to underpin your impact model:

  • the are five core quantitative skills and five core qualitative skills required by your staff to implement and maintain an impact model
  • normally, staff teams collectively have around 6-7 of these skills, but their skills are rusty and they have not used these existing skills to focus on impact measurement
  • we can assist your staff to refresh or develop all ten skills and implement the model.

Concepts and skills behind impact measurement

The concept of an impact model is based on rigorous research about how to measure impact. And an impact model requires staff to use skills to ensure that desired impacts are achieved.

Many of our projects involve the measurement of impact. For example, five in 2011-2012 are:

  • Author of evaluative report on the effectiveness of a program: An Evaluation of IPROWD (Indigenous Police Recruitment Our Way Delivery), for TAFE NSW, 2012
  • Evaluator of the effectiveness of the Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) Learning and Development (L&D) activities conducted by Learning and Development, Community Services, Dept of Family and Community Services, 2012
  • Evaluator of the effectiveness of the training for the KiDS program and suggestions for improvement,Community Services, Department of Family and Community Services, 2012
  • Evaluator of the return on the training investment (ROTI) in the Caseworker Development Program, NSW Department of Community Services, 2011-12
  • Evaluator of the impact of the three tiers of management and leadership programs NSW Department of Family and Community Services, 2011-12.

Impact measurement case study

Client Challenge: Award-winning Challenger Institute of Technology in Western Australia wanted to identify the value it added to clients.

JMA conducted a major project at Challenger TAFE on how to measure the impact of Challenger TAFE's strategies on clients.

The Challenger Impact Model is now a key strategy for this outstanding organisation, which won the award for the national Large Training Provider of the Year in November 2012.
